Saturday I leave this wheezing lap-scorcher of a computer for a week of seafaring. After a few days of classroom study and exams it’s out to sea for manoeuvres at Hamble School of Yachting. Seem like ages since I sat a formal exam; complete with wonky desk and chewed pencil, but should fun.
Day Skipper is essentially your driving test on water, with sails and chart based navigation. It’s one in a series of qualifications all the way up to the grand sounding Ocean Master.
